Our Company

The environment is the scene where humans share the factors which affect and alter our lives, conditioning our lifestyle, even when we sometimes do not notice it. During the last couple of decades, our intervention on the environment has caused big, positive and negative changes. Among the latter, the most visible one has been global warming, which has been translated into desertification, biodiversity loss, deforestation, depletion of energetic resources, and climatic change, factors which have contributed to poverty.

Every minute, we send 48 thousand tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and we are now experiencing the consequences of these actions.

Solving environmental problems, or better yet, preventing them from taking place, implies making changes in our production and consumption models, and transforming our individual and collective behaviors by taking responsibility of the protection towards the diversity of life forms.

In the context of this scenario, the development of biofuels becomes an alternative to the use of fossil fuels, such as coal, gas and oil.

ROSARIO BIOENERGY SA produces biological liquid fuels (biodiesel) by using agricultural feedstock and recycling used vegetable oils.

“The best energy is the one that is not produced: Self-sustaining plant”

ROSARIO BIOENERGY SA started as a dream in 2007, and finally came true in 2010.

Rosario Bioenergy SA has a top notch plant that was built in a 4.5 hectare field located in the Roldán Industrial Area, on the AO12 road, at km 47.5.

The plant was built in collaboration with professionals from The National University of the Littoral (UNL) IDT, and companies from different parts of the Province of Santa Fe.

Self-sustainability is the keynote of Rosario Bioenergy SA because "the best energy is the one that is not produced." As the plant generates its own biodiesel-based electric energy, the energetic demand is minimal, since everything was designed with the purpose of saving energy. In this sense, there is only one engine which pushes the fluids (the process) by gravity.

The plant’s design is 100% ecological. It is a model to follow in terms of effluents discharge, since it is the only one in the country to be certified as a zero-effluent producer. In other words, the plant does not generate waste, since every material used there is transformed into something and put to use.

It has been awarded the “Model Plant” prize by the National Institute for Agricultural Technology (INTA) at the 2011 Expoagro edition.

The art of doing business while taking care of the environment and organizing the public and private spheres

Since its beginnings in 2010, Rosario Bioenergy SA has produced 50 thousand tons per year (4,300 tons per month) of biofuels, which are used in the internal market.

Rosario Bioenergy SA employs 95 families either directly or indirectly.

Production is mostly obtained from soybean oil, and also from recycled vegetable oil.

Recycled vegetable oils, which come both from households and restaurants, are a problem for the environment because, when incorrectly discharged, they make the recovery process of residual water depuration plants more complex, and contaminate rivers and streams.

According to recent studies, “if you pour one liter of oil used for frying into plumbing, you will contaminate a volume of water equivalent to the total a human being will drink during 14 years.” For this reason, it is so important to recycle this type of oils by transforming them into energy (Biodiesel).

Thanks to the public-private collaboration between the municipal government of Rafaela (Province of Santa Fe) and our company, Rosario Bioenergy SA is able to collect the necessary feedstock for biodiesel production.

ARGENTINA AND BIOFUELS MARKET

The outstanding investment of companies in technology and innovation, the significant scientific research studies in the field of bioenergy, and the growing demand of renewable fuels at a global scale, as well as the benefits awarded by national government make Argentina a suitable place for the development of biofuels.

The production of biofuels is an alternative to the use of fossil fuels, such as coal, gas and oil. In recent years Argentina has become an important biofuel producer and exporting country thanks to the abundance of the feedstock (oleaginous plants, sugar cane, etc.) necessary for production.

Biofuel production is regulated by Act No. 26.093 (Rules for the Regulation and Promotion of Biofuels Production and Sustainable Use)

Bioenergy is one of the resources necessary for dealing with the massive world demand for energy.

The main benefits of biodiesel production and use are:

- It is obtained from renewable material.

- It protects the environment by reducing exhausts carbon emissions, carbon dioxide emissions and the amount of sulfur oxides, among others.

- It is an important source of economic growth for developing countries with comparative advantages in the production of its main feedstock.

It can be stored without making costly modifications to the facilities as long as the company has a fuel dispenser. Add ddAdd to that the safe nature of biodiesel. It is fireproof in its pure state, with its ignition point being at 300ºF, in contrast to diesel, whose combustion temperature reaches 125ºF.
